The Battle of Flodden 9th September 1513
The Battle of Flodden was to stick out in history books and the Scottish people forever as the story of a Scottish king and his army. Our King James IV of Scotland had honour and courage like his army of 35.000 proud Scottish and 5.000 French men when he decided to help his French allies by invading England to avenge Henry XIII of England after attacking France. These actions of King James would make his invasion to England to be known as the most bloody battle of Scottish history fought in English soil. It was mid afternoon, the rain was heavy, the ground was wet slippery and boggy when the cannons fired from English and Scottish forces.
