The Battle of Culloden also known as Drumossie Moor 16th April 1746
The Battle of Culloden was and is the battle of all battles. The Jacobites, exhausted, hungry, worn to the bones under their General Prince Charles Edward Stuart decided to meet at Culloden Moor. 5.000 strong tired patriots stood on the battle field; the morning was cold and stormy, snow and rain hitting their faces, their clothing soaking. The Duke of Cumberland was the Butcher to be after this disaster with his 9.000 thousand strong soldiers. The Jacobites put up the most powerful bravery and symbolized their patriotism to Scotland and Prince Charles. What was to happen that day and to the next would be a bloody aftermath - it changed Scotland forever. Their memory lives on.
